the original was a classic but this movie was just bottom feeding garbage
lmaoooo aladdin guy couldnt act at all it was hilarious loved the princess tho she was so regal and so princess like.. and loved genie he was great as well but damn the aladdin guy horrible acting lmao
At first I thought it would be John cena to be in the lamp but smith is also and good one too
Zero issue with Will Smith being blue. Had so many problems with the new music. It sounded like goddamn fucking Frozen music, even down to Jasmine's body movements. Even Whole New World was somewhat ruined with the very audible drum throughout.
Finally watched it on NowTV. Have to agree with you felt cringeworthy and boring at times. Poor writing with some good visuals, except Genie, I only see Will Smith. Jasmine and Aladin played well by their actors although its painfully obvious Naomi is browned up but of course worst thing about is Jafar, laughable the whole film. Just dont think the animation is meant to be a live action.
Hmmm, nah Chris. You’re off with this review. It’s better than you’re describing. It’s a perfect remake but not a perfect movie. 8/10
Just saw it. I liked it. It did however feel rushed which is weird given that it's longer than the animation.
Chris Stuckman loves Disney movies. The more he loves them, the more he gets paid.
I loved this movie and I thought willsmith did a fantastic Jonas genie, especially considering he was succeeding Robin Williams I’m this role which should have been impossible!
The genie and Robin Williams will never be replaced, will smith had a lot to work up too. He did good tho
The beginning is super weak and awkward. Will Smith does good serious acting is some roles, and then in others is just being Will Smith. This is the latter. Throughout I had to keep forcing myself to try to like the movie. A tiny few original moments were actually a decent laugh. But overall it just felt like a less spectacular and not nearly as well executed version. Was mostly a copy and paste of the original film, with laughable CGI. Jasmine was the best acting. Jafar and Iago were far and away the weakest aspect. And Aladdin's acting wasn't great.
I just saw this yesterday and had the exact same impressions. Additionally, i felt some of the scenes they recreated were very rushed, especially Jasmine intro and the unexplained familiarity she and Aladdin seemed to have immediately. All the new scebes felt a bit dragged out and very bland. I liked the changes in script very much, just not the execution so much.
This movies should of been a little darker , it was really bad almost to an unwatchable level
most of the times Chris is right but sometimes he just dont know what the fuck hes talking about
1:25 Aladdin could DEFINITELY be seen in a live action lighting, they just fucked it up. It was far from authentic and c i you’ve been amazing
I think you meant Jonathan Taylor Thomas as Simba, when comparing Robin Williams voicing the Genie.
First time commenter. Watched this movie today. 2 hours and still felt rushed I liked them dabbling and trying to create a bit more depth and nuance but in doing so, that’s were lunes began to fell flat and unnatural... I
Movies are often "cleaner" than real life. I often marvel at how clean automobile windows always are, like they have just been windexed, in so many films. I guess ever since Dorothy fell into the pig sty in the Wizard of Oz and came out spotless I have accepted that movies exist in a magically clean world!!
Let's not forget that this movie is distinted for kids so adults mind find this movie is hard to watch but i liked the movie and i hope there will be a 2nd part
Most of the people who "really like" this movie are the people who haven't seen the original
@epicanime009 he did say most people. Not everyone. Honestly I thought it would be bad and there are weird choices but it wasn't as bad as I expected
Yup you're right. I really didn't like this movie. Especially the whitewashing of the characters. Aladdin and jasmin in the animation were darker and brownskinned.
Nope, I seen the original 1000 times growing up and its one of my favorite disney movies, but i just saw this live action today and i really enjoyed it.
The acting per se was not the issue, the directing and casting were the issues. This movie was horrendous; I felt like I was watching a really bad "made for TV" movie remake on the Hallmark channel.
This movie was a pile of shit.
Your wrong the movie was great just saying
I grew up with the original and loved this movie.
because you probably didn't grow up with the original
I agree on the point about being too “clean”, I did get that same sort of cheesy vibe like I was watching a stage set play, simply because of that alone. And I agree the CGI was noticeable and a bit over the top at times, especially the end. But!! I do like this movie a lot as a remake otherwise. I actually did really the acting, including Jafar’s.
Chris, you're the man! -Jesus
I actually dislike Will Smith as the genie. I felt he instead went for song and dance man and that that's how his genie was going to work. Very serious and a lot less humor. So he didn't work for me. I thought the whole film was a bore. No one's charm and light was here
the first part is rushed super fast. If you had not seen the original Aladdin you will have no clue whats going on. Then you the to the end that seems to last forever instead
Gotta remember one thing, Disney is a children's company. You wont hear a child tear shreds off these live action remakes because kids respond to visuals and sound, which the live action remakes get right
I never saw the anime, I watched that movie because it was directed by Guy Ritchie. He had a few miss (Sherlock Holmes, The Man from U.N.C.L.E...) but he can do entertaining movies with choreographed stylized scenes. The result is an uninspired movie with uncharismatic protagonists (except the OK genie). All I remember is that ridiculous speed up singing scene.
Thats what we get with 4k and hd movies
The movie was wonderful as the original
Idk them using Indian music, dances, clothing styles instead of Arabian seemed like they didn't care enough to even research the old arab culture. They had someone talk Arabic in the beginning of the movie and obviously they used arabian names for all the characters so don't tell me they wanted a new take on alaadin or a race swap.
Ooooo Aladdin 2019 is the best movie ever period
This is the worst movie I tried to watch in 2019. After a while I started skipping ahead...total shit product coming out of Hollywood in 2019.
I do think these films are for the kids though... not really for critics or even adults who seen the 90s version when they was a kid... my kid loved it, I didn’t so much.
I was missing the line Infidels !!!!!! Infidels! You have touched the forbidden treasure! Now you will never again see the light of day
I watched this movie high and I still walked out.
Awesome film, soundtracks better than original. Better remake than lion king
Unless they take a bit like human form.
Ow come on how can a jinn take form of huge being can look will smith😂
Look at sonic now
I'd rather every movie be two hours, means they care more about the fans to give us the most possible
I've never disliked a movie so much that I actually puked halfway through until this.
🎥That's why I almost never listen to movie critics. I disagree with everything this man said. Will Smith playing Genie🧞♂️ was adorable, I didn't see the actor just Genie. The songs were original but with a hip twist which sounded new and fresh, but nostalgic. Animations was believable. And guessing from the comment section, most people enjoyed the movie as well. -Will add to my Disney collection
this movie started with black Americans on boat ? wtf ? Will Smith singing ? Aladdin can't sing ?wow this was so bad.I had to fight to myself to sit and watch this crap. wow what a POS
Chris : “It’s just the same songs from the originals” Princess jasmine : Am I a joke to you
This is Disney’s worst live action remake. I didn’t like it at all. Will Smith was the only thing keeping me from turning it off
The only positive thing I felt while watching this movie was the urge to watch the original. I think there was a lot of money spent on scenarios and clothes and graphics etc. and the casting and storyline development went flat, I mean, that Jafar.... unforgivable. Iago... my personal favorite character from the original film, was absurd.
Cmon now its rubbish. this is little bit too nitpicking.. You can see a Cinderella, Jungle Book in real life , but not Aladdin??
I judged this movie so hard from the trailer, Again the power of cinema man you can't judge a book by it's cover. Will Smith had huge shoes to fill and went way beyond my expectations. The movie stayed in it's own lane and it was amazing.
they should have cast jim carry as gene...
RIP Robin Williams...
Holy crud! I completely forgot this remake existed. Just like any other live action disney remakes, excluding the jungle book and cinderella.
Recently saw this movie, this is the only honest review of it, poorly made bad acting but will smith was great
I will not see this movie there's a misandric feminist song in it.
4:30 "This movie, everything looks clean, so relentlessly perfect looking..."Um Chris, are you sure your still talking about flaws here?😂😂
My expectations were do low for that movie and I didn't hate it, I won't watch it again but ...yeah. they should have change how jasmin stole the apple to give the child. I love the length of the movie and how it have the characters more time to fall in love. I agree with your gradding
I hated the “A Whole New World” part of the movie where they were flying around at night! Wtf! We can’t see anything!!
The ONLY real criticism I have is that Ben Kingsley wasn't Jafar.
